The time has finally come for me to do some writing. I wish I could tell you how excited I am, but I can't. Writing my thoughts on paper can be so intimidating. Like a child, standing on a diving board, I was nervous, so I jumped right in. The thoughts of messing up,writers block, or just being ridiculed left my thought process and I let flow.
Sure I messed up and had writers block as I wrote, but I have not been ridiculed yet, at least not my face anyway :). With the variety of resources in my possession , I was able get started. I read in my textbook a quote from E.M. Forster, "As a writer, I would find out most clearly what I thought I thought, when I saw it written down," that was inspirational to me. Reading a few of the essays in the book also helped ease the tension when doing my own writing. I have a long way to go until I write like some of those writers who's articles I enjoy reading, but it's a rough draft. My finished paper will be a lot better.
Great personal analogy about writing to you: "Like a child, standing on a diving board, I was nervous, so I jumped right in." NEVER worry about ridicule in my class! Wonderful about easing the tension reading some of the essays. Just get a little more specific in the future about which essay and why it helped you in depth.
ReplyDeleteYes, great point. You are not a professional writer, but you CAN learn from them. I'm sure your final draft will be much improved.

Also, please STILL update your background to make it unique. I can walk you through it in class tonight, if needed :)
